Bio: Mia Doucet
A client recently said to me, “It’s not easy to be admired by
a bunch of hard-nosed engineers. How does a trainer in ‘soft
skills’ get to have so much respect?” My response was that it
has to be because I have so much respect for them, for their
technical knowledge, and what they are expected to accomplish
on a daily basis. I love working with engineers.
My company, Sales Development Institute [now called Crack
The Code] had been revolutionizing
sales training since 1993. We had a proven history of custom-design
and delivery of dynamic, world-class systems for dramatically
improving sales results in the business-to-business sale.
Then, in 2001, I invited an international manufacturing technology
firm to include engineers in a corporate sales program to get
full value for their training dollar because their sales team
was so small. One year later, they reported almost doubling
their sales revenues — in spite of the fact that two senior
salespeople had left the firm and not been replaced.
This result caused me to shift
my focus from working with sales groups to working with engineers.
Helping technical people contribute to the sales effort by expanding
their people skills and making them realize the power they have
to effect good decisions through improved communication and
strong relationships became my driving force.
My main strength has always been the ability to spark
innovative, revenue-generating strategies for my customers
[and their customers] within a training context.
At one time, automotive, engineering, and electronics firms
were my main client groups. I now work almost exclusively
with Fortune 500 firms.

I have just completed our annual EFA Dialogues. I ask everyone,
what do you think of Mia as a presenter? Everyone is giving
you high praise. Even Alex rated you a 9. I feel very much enriched
in my own life, as added value. I never saw a course that presents
so much. And for someone to have written the material – it’s
what everyone is feeling – this person is fascinating. You’re
operating at a very high level. You’ve set that bar so high.
